Don’t Say It Unless You Mean It


It is very common these days that people are telling something and doing something else. I have a small suggestion for all the organisations, who are bragging a lot.

* Don’t say pay-for-performance if you really use the Peanutbutter Process.
* Don’t say teamwork and then allow gossip and backstabbing.
* Don’t say transparency and then only communicate to selected managers.
* Don’t say learning environment and confuse it with a few crappy training classes.
* Don’t say employee engagement when you really want compliance....

So, better say what you do, and do what you say.

H.P. Redefined

I had a talk with one of my friend today. His uncle is a HR manager in some company(I really don't know the name of the company). My friend told me about his uncle that he is a high performer in his company. The same moment I asked him, what really a high performer is? He replied, what all a normal person cannot imagine, a high performer can imagine.

Performance is not all about imagination. Well, high performers are not the ones who can imagine what others cannot, instead they are people who - LIVE IT, NOT IMAGINE IT. As a HR manager your job should be to get out to the workplace and talk to people, not just hanging out in your office. Great HR is not theoretical, it is experiential. I would like to strengthen my point by some line.

Valentine's Day

Are you alone on this Valentine's Day? I was just watching videos on youtube, and just came through this video. This is what all the singles should try for enjoying the V-DAY.

ECOFONT


Gone are the days, when the words once said were enough to perform an order. Now we believe in Written communication from Garages to Gigantic Organizations. The Prints which we use for our ‘daily purpose’ not only use papers, but also ink. And it would be very simple for us to estimate the quantity for papers and Ink used in that communication.

So what to do? Can we continue spending billions and billions of money on Papers and Ink? This has been very well answered by SPRANQ Creative Communications (Utrecht, The Netherlands). According to SPRANQ, we would be able to make our Ink Cartridges last longer. For this, they have developed a new font called “ECOFONT”. ECOFONT is a font, which contains holes between the alphabets, and this can save your Ink upto 20%.

There is no point regarding the readability of the letters, as the ECOFONT maintains the quality of readability. According to my experience, ECOFONT is best for the font size of 12 or less than that; and if you want to use bigger font, the holes can be visible.

Child's Play



What can we do with a Rupee? I think – NOTHING. And what if we lose that Rupee? I believe – WHO CARES. Right?

Have you ever saw a child begging for a Rupee on road? One Rupee can be nothing to us, but just ask that child who is putting his life in danger. A hard fact behind this is that there are many hands behind single money. According to the BBC Documentary on “Child Beggars in India”, if the child is getting Rs. 100 per day, then he has to give Rs. 97 to the dealers for whom he is working.

You all must be thinking why I am writing all this in our HR Review. Coming to the point, what really HRM is for us? In short – MANAGING HUMAN RESOURCES, right? Don’t you feel those children are our future Human Resources? So, why are we not managing them?

Many of us must have ill-treated, shouted, or beated those needless fellows, in some or the other form. But why can’t we help them to come out of the dirt?
