What if you were on a diet but only were allowed to weigh yourself once a year? How likely would you be to stick with it?
If your answer was, “Not a chance,” why is it okay to have once-a-year performance reviews? Does anyone actually think that one uncomfortable hour once a year is any substitute for effective leadership? Seriously? Why waste the time?
If you really want your performance management system to work it has to have two essentials:
1. It has to be a system
2. It needs to provide continuous feedback
If you’re doing anything else, it’s just a game to make the lawyers and rule makers happy. Bad HR is about blindly going where everyone has gone before.

But, don't u think that giving a constant feedback on papers or performance appraisal frequently in a year will be costlier for the company? plus it also takes a great amount of time... so, the company will have to employee few hr managers just for performance appraisal..
ReplyDeletei think every team leader in every company at least giving feedback to employee on their performance ..
Very true rachana...If we talk about continuous feedback, then I would like to ask you a question. Which one do u prefer - Professor giving feedback at the end of the term, or professor giving feedback after every presentation? What I really want to say is this that is this that Humans are considered as the most important resource of any organisation. All other resources can be valued, but HR cannot be. There are many organisations which go for regular PA process (one in a month or once in 3 months), so why cant every organisation?
ReplyDeleteAnd talking about feedback by your team leader. One motre question - What do u prefer - Being evaluated by your Professor, or Your Chairman?
